Physical Anthropological Study in Hebbale Village of Kodagu District, Karnataka

Abstract
Hebbale is a large and multiethnic village in Somwarpet Taluk of Kodagu District, Karnataka. Though there are a number of communities living in the village the numerically dominant are three viz., the Namdari, the Viswakarma and the Adi Karnataka. Demographically, Hebbale has a growing population. The population increased from 2229 in 1961 to 3244 in 2011. Females are more in number than males resulting in a high sex ratio which is higher than that of Karnataka State. Moderate fertility and mortality components were observed. According to BMI values of the studied communities, most of them are in normal nutritional condition.
