A Brief Resume of Significant Activities, May 2013 – Sub Regional Center

In connection with the International Museum day, Sub-Regional Centre, Jagdalpur Anthropological Survey of India, has celebrated the International Museum Day from 18th – 20th May 2013, at ZAM. This year ICOM has the proposed theme Museum (Memory + Creativity) = Social Change. On this occasion, Zonal Anthropological Museum (ZAM) of the Anthropological Survey of India, Sub-Regional center, Jagdalpur has organized a Drawing Competition for school going students and a Seminar was also organized, on the same theme, in which, local and outsider scholars have participated. In addition to the above events, ZAM organized three days Exhibition on the theme “Change among the Crafts of Bastar”. The Chief Guest for the seminar was (Dr). B.L.Jha, Principal (Rtd.) and the Chief Speaker was Dr. Sashi Pandey, Teacher (Rtd.). Sri K.M.Sinha Roy, Anthropologist (C) & Head of Office ZAM, Jagdalpur chaired the session. In the presence of other delegates like Shri,Sarat Chandra Verma, Dr. Shraddha Shrivastava, Dr. Rupendra Kavi, Research Associate, TRI and officials of the ZAM, Dr. B.L. Jha has Inaugurated the exhibition. Different media professionals have also participated and given a widespread coverage. On the valedictory, Dr. B L. Jha, and Shri Sarat Chandra Verma have attended. A researcher, along with other team members visited the NWRC, Dehradun for report writing, under the 12th plan project in connection with the study of the village, Parhil, Block Iglas, Aligarh, U.P. Research papers of the symposium, “Intervention on Tradition Political System” organized by the Sub-Regional Centre, Jagdalpur have been finalized for an edited volume “Intervention on Traditional Political system: a special reference to Indian scenario, in a publishable form and is ready to be sent to the Head of Office, Kolkata for final editing and related work. World Environment Day 5th June 2013 A Report Sub-Regional Centre of the Anthropological survey of India, Jagdalpur celebrated the World Environment Day on 5th June, 2013. On the occasion, Anthropological Survey of India, Jagdalpur planted more than 350 fruit giving trees in villages like Potananr, Kohapal and Tandpal. In addition, the An.S.I. has also distributed tree saplings to villagers in the presence of village leaders, Sarpanch, Sachiv and others. On the occasion, a number of villagers have also participated and supported the drive for a successful afforestation drive. Anthropological survey of India, Jagdalpur has also organized a guest talk on the eve of the World Environment Day as per UNEP (United Nations Environment Programme) on the theme of THINK EAT SAVE, which is an anti-food waste and food-loss campaign that encourages one to reduce the food print. By that, we will not only reduce the amount of food-waste in our homes, but will reduce the harmful environmental impact of food production, which in turn saves money. The chief guest, Rtd. Principal Dr. B.L. Jha, Chief Speaker Dr. S.C Verma (Environmentalist) and Shri K.M.Sinha Roy, Anthropologist & Head of Office, An.SI, Jagdalpur were the speakers of the occasion, in the presence of other delegates like Shri Radha Madav Das, Shri Ganga Ram Kashyap (Secterary, Dhurwa Samaj, Bastar sambhag), Shri. Subhash Pandey and officials of Anthropological Survey of India, Jagdalpur. Sub-Regional Centre, Jagdalpur has also invited Dhurwa community members to perform Guar and Gurgal dances. Dhurwa people have also planted trees in the premises of Zonal Anthropological Museum, Jagdalpur.
