Summary of significant events for the month of July, 2015
1. Under the national project Bio-Cultural Diversity, Environment and Sustainable Development Village Study, Dr. Tilak Bagchi Asstt. Keeper, (Project Coordinator), Dr A P Jha RA (Psy) and Shri Pulakesh Purkait, SRF have completed the second phase of tour to Sultana village of Jaisalmer district of Rajasthan and the team consisting of Dr. M.Sikdar AA (P), Shri Raj Kumar, RA(C) and Shri Jai Narayan Singh. SRF, are on tour to Radhvanaj village, Kheda district of Gujarat to carry out the second phase of fieldwork for a period of 4-5 weeks. Shri Baneshwar Oraon AA, (C), Dr.PRD.Fernandez, RA (L). Shri Kiran Uttaravalli, RA (P), Shri Nishant Saxena, RA (C) and Shri Narasimham Naidu Reddy RA (P) are analyzing the data collected from their respective villages on completion of the second phase of tour.
2. This centre is proposed to organize Health Screening and Awareness camp among the Dubla tribe of Diu region during the month of September, 2015 and in this regard the proposal submitted by Dr. Mithun Sikdar, AA (P) is sent to Head Office for the administrative approval and the financial sanction under OE Plan (Tribal Sub Plan) vide this office letter No.3-51/2015/TC dated 16.07.2015.
3 The library of WRC, has organize the Book Exhibition from 6th to 8th July 2015 by inviting local publishers to procure the books for the library as well as to procure the Hindi books to promote the Raj Bhasa Hindi language.
4. During the month, 337 Indian and 05 foreign visitors visited the Gol Museum, Shilpagram, and 95 visitors visited the Zonal Anthropological Museum at Udaipur.

Research Project: Bio cultural Diversity, Environment & Sustainable Development.
First Phase of Study:
Village Study reports onRanawaton-ki-Sadrivillage in Chittorgarh district of Rajasthan and Nana Sanja Village in Bharuch district in Gujarat.submitted to the PI for editing.
Second Phase of Study:
Three teams have been formed to undertake the studies on the three villages viz., Kasandra, Radhvanaj and Talala (Siddhi Village) of Gujarat. The three teams have submitted the reconnoiter tour reports. Now the team members are analyzing the data collected from their respective villages.
Border AreaStudy: Sultana village of Jaisalmer district of Rajasthan the team has submitted the reconnoiter tour report and at present the team members are in the field.
Documentation and Dissemination: Documentation of Tribal Cultural Events and Organizing workshop on tribes under TSP
International Museum Day on 18th May 2014 and organized a Workshop, rally on the theme Walk for Museum, Drawing Competition, Quiz program and Cultural Programme, around 400 tribal people actively participated in the Museum Day celebration.
As an outreach initiative the International Museum Day programmes were extended to the Dhekli village and through “Intensive Training cum Workshop on Facets of Intangible Cultural Heritage of the Bhils of Rajasthan” 40 Bhil tribes were trained from 21st to 25th May 2014 on Intangible cultural traits like Sheep rearing, Plough Fitting, Knitting of Kat and Collection of firewood from the forest etc by the trained tribal professionals.
The centre observed International Environment Day on 5th June 2014 in befitting manner and organized workshop, rally, quiz and drawing competition. Saplings were planted in the camps to stress the importance of growing trees as the forest, human being and other living beings depend on each other for their survival, around 150 tribal people actively participated in celebration.
International Day of the World Indigenous People’s Day was observed on 9th August 2014 through a workshop by inviting tribal leaders.
Interactive Workshop on the Crafts of the two Tribal Communities of Rajasthan (Bhil &Saharia) was organized from 7th September to 13th September 2014 with the prime objective to promote and revive traditional tribal crafts and craftsmanship among the tribal groups. Prof. T.C. Damor IPS (Rtd.) Vice-Chancellor, Rajiv Gandhi Tribal University, Udaipur graced the occasion as the Chief Guest and the workshop concluded with the Panel Discussion.The craft items fabricated by the tribal craftsman were displayed in the ZAM, Udaipur.
Community Genetics &Health: Bio-cultural Adaptation
Health Awareness and Screening Camp was organised among the Garasia from the 28th July 2014 to 06th August 2014 at Sirohi district of Rajasthan.475 Garasia individuals were screened in the camp from interior hamlets and the extraction of blood samples is in progress.
In order to implement Hindi in office work Hindi Workshops were conducted in every quarter for the scientific as well administrative staff. Captions for the specimens and photographs on display were translated from English to Hindi. In every quarter Hindi meetings were organized for effective implementation of Hindi in the office.Hindi Week celebration held in the month of September 2014
On 02nd October 2014 Swachha Bharat pledge was taken by the staff members of this regional centre to keep the surrounding clean and periodically office premises are being cleaned by the staff.
